Mica References and Description
Mica is named after the mineral, and his color scheme is intended to reflect the colors of biotite
mica.
Some examples of biotite mica: Biotite Mica 1
Biotite Mica 2
Mica is also intended as a companion suit to Jasper (also named after the mineral). Some pictures of Jasper
for reference are here: Jasper at the Oregon Country Fair #1 and Jasper at the Oregon Country Fair #2.
Mica's ref sheet is approximate rather than exact, but the major ideas behind the design are:
- The colors are black, gold, gray, and white, like a piece of biotite mica.
- The appearance should be realistic rather than toony or semi-toony.
- The markings on the head can be adjusted to look better or be more realistic, as long as the neck where
it meets the bodysuit is black.
For add-ons, I'd like the head to have:
- Canine whiskers
- Glass or acrylic eyes that aren't follow-me style (I think follow-me eyes can be a problem when performing, especially in crowds). It
would be great if the eyes could creatively reflect the colors of mica in some way, but gold eyes are
also just fine! Whichever you'd feel more comfortable with.
- Silicone nose and tongue
- If possible, and if you think it wouldn't compromise the appearance much, I'd like to get an extra-wide
tear duct hole with a cutout running underneath the eye for better peripheral vision. Jasper has this
feature; closeups are here and here.
Again, if this wouldn't work for your heads, no problem.
