Trot's Radio Control vehicles page.

I got into R/C cars almost two years ago when I purchased a Traxxas Bandit. It's a simple electric 10th scale off-road buggy that was cheap and ready to run. I took this little buggy and nearly ran it to death before I started canibalizing it to repair my second car.

This car was bought because I needed something faster than my then roomate's nitro Bandit. Rated at 65 MPH out of the box the Thunder Tiger Mirage was the first R/C kit I assembled. This one still runs though it's been modified a bit so as to make it faster and more on-road friendly. With a .21 ci nitro engine and all wheel drive/braking it'll do some serious damage to quite a few of the smaller vehicles that are readily available.

Next came my 6th scale off-roader... The Traxxas Monster buggy. This truly is a beast of a buggy. With it's 6" tires and 2-stroke 26cc gasoline engine it'll throw quite a pair of rooster-tails as it digs through the dirt trying to find traction. Makes for quite the impressive power slide as well. It's also been modified for on-road use though the set of slicks it currently has are shredded and awaiting replacement.

The last car I have is the only one intended for on-road use. Bought with the express intention of racing it locally, my HPI RS4 has never even had it's body mounted. I planed to make this one up with tiny lights and LED brake lights for that ultra-realistic look but have never taken the time to even finish the body paint. Oh well, I'll get there eventually.

The next big R/C undertaking that I've dedicated myself to (in a loose sorta way) is a quarter scale Fiero. Having found no R/C Fiero's readily available on the market I've decided to prove my insanity by attempting to build my own. So far the plans call for a .90 ci supercharged nitro engine turning a 4 speed sequential-shifting transmission. The tranny is very simmilar in design and operation to that found in a Honda VFR motorcycle and has yet to be built. I'm having a bit of trouble with the fabrication of parts. The suspention will be a mixture of '88 Fiero design and what I can use in off-the-shelf parts. I have no earthly idea how I'm going to manage the body but it'll be either modeled after an '84 Indy, or an '88 Formula.

Enjoy your stay here and let me know what you think.
