SHOCKWAVE's Page of Furry and Science Fiction Fun!!! |
Greetings, weary traveler, and welcome to the High-Canyon Spaceport high above the planet of Yannis.
No doubt you are very tired - interstellar travel is much faster than it used to be, but journeying from system to system still takes weeks to accomplish. The next scheduled shuttle to the surface won't leave for another 18 hours as you go through Contagion Quarantine, so take a load off and enjoy some of the facilities you will find here in High-Canyon. If you want something to drink, go ahead and grab something.
At the very top of the page, you will see a display showing you where you are in the station at any given time. Just press where you want to go and you will go there instantly. The buttons turn red to show you where you are. Right now, you are at the HOME lobby of the station and this is a starting off point - if you somehow manage to get lost, you can always come here and get your bearings again. That shouldn't be a big problem as this isn't a very large space station. (Well, it's bigger than some and smaller than others.)
If you are looking for some reading material before you leave, then you are in luck because we have a decent selection of stories in our library. If you like anthropomorphic animals, there are many stories based upon that. If you like Science Fiction with spaceships and bizarre plot twists, you'll find that also. And if you like stories about anthropomorphic animals flying around in spaceships with bizarre plot twists, you might want to bookmark this place since there aren't that many libraries with such subject matter around. You'll find them in the STORIES section on the quick access bar at the top of the page.
If you are curious about me, Shockwave, your host, I'll have to ask you to take some motion-sickness pills before visiting the ABOUT section of the station. To reach it, you have to cross a Null-Gee section in the hall. Sorry about the inconvenience, but it is so hard getting Gravity Plating repaired way out here.
If you might be curious about other areas you can visit when you leave the station, a good listing of places to go is available in the LINKS area. Some of them are furry in nature, some are technical, some are SF based, some are about the real space program, and some of them simply defy explanation.
Speaking of the real space program, you might be interested in my revised examination of the RLV and the concept of reusable spacecraft. You'll find it in the SPACE section.
In the MEDIA section, you'll go through the central cylinder and reach the Second Wheel of the station. The contents here change a fair bit; you may find convention pictures or an MPG of a gather. You might find a particularly poignant MP3 here also, or even a tape of a shuttle launch. Who's to say?
If you are truly bored or have a considerably long wait before your ship arrives, you might be tempted to read my JOURNAL and see just how busy a life I really lead. There's a little angst in here, but not much. You'll also be able to read the world's only non-graphic prose-only comic strip (updated MWF) titled "Three Stories".
