About Me...

Well, Zaphod is just dis guy, you know? (bbzzzttt!!)

Whew! Sorry about that. Sometimes the old electronic brain gets stuck on some old, obsolete, hard-to-find radio broadcast and I have to zap it with a little static electricity to get it back on track.

Who am I? Well, my given name is Allen Kitchen and I hail from Space City, also known as Houston Texas. I have a wife, two kids, a yard full of grass that I'm getting tired of mowing, and a number of really cool friends both online and off.

What do I do for fun? I write fiction, read fiction, struggle to find some method of countering gravity or at least reducing it's influence on an object, design code, design and ocassionally build scary machines (which sometimes come back to me without police escort), and basically just imagine life as it could have been and could be someplace else. I also drive my car when I'm feeling flush enough to abuse her, which isn't all that often. I prefer to keep my daily driver capable of driving daily and so the racing is reserved for video games. Speaking of that, here's a picture of my computer at home.

Messy, isn't it? :)

What do I do for a living? I'm an electrical engineer. And no, that doesn't mean I run a train hauling batteries. I design electronic systems from the component up, program the programmable logic, write the code for the processors, debug everything, and then make certain everything works properly in the field it was designed for. I now am back in NASA after a long haitus and I'm assisting in the Return to Flight tasks.

If you are wanting to email me, my public address is Shockwave77598 at Yahoo dot com.

If you are one of the many people who enjoy Blogging, my LiveJournal account gives a good glimpse into my life.

I do have AIM and I'm known as SHOCKWAVE77598 there. But note that I'm rarely on any sort of IM program and that any IM program is NOT the way to try and reach me.

You can send a SMS (Text Message) to my phone Here. Note that I rarely reply as it costs money and the messages invariably come when I am busy, so expect me to see it but not SMS back (unless it's really pressing.)

I'm also found on Furrymuck, usually on Sunday nights.
